Western United, the team for all of the west, is excited to announce their participation in the Australian Government Sporting Schools initiative bringing you the new 2020 schools program - WUWU School’s IN giving students the opportunity to learn from the best!

The main goal of WUWU School’s IN is to deliver Western United’s core value of togetherness along with teamwork and social skills to our youth.

The program is developed around the importance of children’s fundamental movement skills. Encouraging lifelong participation in physical activity, teamwork, social skills and to increase awareness of the value of sports in hope they find a love for the game of football.

WUWU School’s IN football clinic is a collaborative and nurturing program that is delivered by Western United’s accredited coaches who make sure the sessions are engaging and most importantly fun for all involved. Our sporting school programs are all age specific, and are designed for all levels of abilities. Whether a child is already playing the sport at the highest junior level, or has never kicked a football before, our programs cater for all with the assurance of it being an engaging, and fun experience!

Based on FFA recommendations we deliver game-based activities. Each session is structured as follows:

  • INTRODUCTION to the program
  • A WARM UP GAME to kick off the fun
  • A SKILL BASED ACTIVITY focused on the 4 fundamental core skills of football: 1st touch // running with the ball // striking the ball // 1v1
  • GAME ON! The program ends with the children playing a fun game of football demonstrating their new skills.

Schools need to apply for a grant through the Sporting Schools website. Grant applications for Term 4 open on Monday the 10th of August and close on Friday 21st of August 2020.

Once the grant has been approved, head back to the Sporting Schools website, and select the Western United Football Club’s school program School’s IN!

Sporting Schools is an Australian Government initiative designed to help schools to increase children's participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities.

Sporting Schools programs are provided free to the school, including all equipment, to help students build the confidence and capability to be active for life. To help achieve this, Sport Australia has partnered with, and exclusively endorsed only A-League clubs to deliver this Football program. There is a program for primary schools, and a targeted program for Year 7 and 8 students in secondary schools. Western United FC are proud to say that, as an A-League club, we are now an endorsed sporting organisation to deliver these programs.
